Assessment of Rehabilitation Programme for Child Labour in Carpet Industry of India-Mirzapur-Bhadohi Carpet Weaving Belt, was undertaken by Dr. Bupinder Zutshi, Coordinator for Population, Disability and Child Labour Programmes of the Himalayan Foundation. The Project was Sponsored by Association for Voluntary Action and SACCS, New Delhi and funded by Christian Aid, United Kingdom. The project was completed in July 1998.

A Situational Analysis of Street and Working Children in India. Sponsored by UNESCO (India), this project was completed in December 2000. About 58 NGOs from all major urban centres and cities with child workers in hazardous occupation were covered for the detailed survey. The project was organised by Dr. Bupinder Zutshi of the Himalayan Research and Cultural Foundation, for UNESCO. The report has been published by UNESCO in the form of book titled Education for Street and Working Children in India.

Assessment, Impact and Acceptance of Non-Formal School Education for Working Children under National Child Labour Programme of India in Mirzapur-Bhadhoi carpet belt and Firozabad Glass work. The project funded by the National Human Rights Commission of India, New Delhi, was completed in 2001. About 45 NGOs and 88 non-formal education centres were covered for the survey.

Translation of Brahmasphutasiddhanta of Brahmagupta:This Research Project was undertaken by Mrs. Sushma Zadoo on with critical analysis, notes and introduction as approved by the Indian National Science Academy under the auspices of Himalayan Research and Cultrual Foundation.

Indian Central Asia Cultural Expedition: This first ever epoch- making expedition organised by Majar H.P.S. Ahluwalia Vice President of Himalayan Research and Cultural Foundation more than twenty member stravered by road over 15,000 kms.along the Silk Route through the Central Asian countries of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan; Xinjiang, Kansu, Qinghai and Tibet regions of China and Nepal (17 May-21 July 1994). Prof. K. Warikoo, Secretary General of Foundation was also a Member of this unique expedition. He conducted studies on the contemporary society and culture in Central Asia.

Rituals and Ritual Arts of Kashmir A Research Project on has been completed by Dr. Shashi Shekhar Toshkhani in 2002 under the auspices of Himalayan Research and Cultural Foundation with the support of Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts.

Project Applied Ethics Institute of India (Project-AEII) was launched with the academic support of Development of Integrated Value Applications (DIVA), a Delhi based NGO, and with the financial support of Ford Foundation. The Project-AEII, is focused on the themes of Gender Ethics, Applied Ethics, Services for the Disabled, Home based women workers of the Unorganised Sector, and Community Outreach Programmes. Details of activities undertaken as part of this Project are given below:-
(a)
War and Ethics: One-day Seminar on was held on 3 November 2001 at India International Centre, New Delhi. The Seminar brought together eminent academics from humanities and sciences, clinical psychologists, social workers etc. Prominent participants included Prof. Margaret Chatterji, Deptt. of Philosophy, University of Delhi, Dr. Shashi Motilal, Dr. Ranjit Nair, Ms. Rajni Arya; Prof. Kanti Bajpai, Prof. Pratap Bhanu Mehta and Prof. Dipankar Gupta, all from Jawaharlal Nehru University.
(b)
Street and Working Children in India: Challenges for their Education and Rehabilitation, Organised a Seminar on 21 December 2001 at India International Centre, as part of the Project. Main speakers included Dr. Bupinder Zutshi, Ms. Maria Malevri of UNESCO, Dr. Gowhar Rizvi from Ford Foundation, New Delhi, Mr. Krishnamurthy from ILO, Mr. Kailash Satyarthi of SACCS, two rescued children Basil and Rakesh from Mukti AsSatyarthi of SACCS, two rescued children Basil and Rakesh from Mukti Ashram, New Delhi.

Globalisation, Values and Women, Organised one-day Workshop on the theme in January 2002 at India International Centre, New Delhi, to analyse the impact of technology transfer and economic commodity chain on women in the third world. Main participants included Dr. Dong Sook Gills and Dr. Cherrie Stubbs from the University of Sunderland, U.K., Dr. Aparna Basu, President, All India Women’s Conference, Dr. Zarina Bhatty, President, Indian Association of Women’s Studies, Dr. Malashri Lal, Director, Women’s Studies and Development Centre, University of Delhi, Dr. Deepa Nag Haksar, Dr. Mondira Dutta.

Awareness about Mental Health, Organised a panel discussion on april 2002. Main speakers included Prof. Ranjit Roy Chaudhary, President, Delhi Medical Council, Dr. Agnese Barolo Rizvi, Dr. Madhumita Puri, Secretary, Society for Child Development, Ms. Rajni Arya, Director, Amity School of Behaviourial and Allied Sciences, and Dr. Sanjay Chugh.

Ms. Rajni Arya conducted counselling sessions for students in Zakir Hussain College, University of Delhi from October 2001 to February 2002.

Mr. Dilip Badkar, Director, Institute of Mass Communication, Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan, New Delhi prepared a documentary on Gender Ethics for the Project AEII.
(g)
Home Based Women Workers, A workshop was organised by Dr. Mondira Dutta on 22 June 2002, to create awareness among the identified home-based women workers, educate them on labour ethics and labour laws, discuss their problems and find possible solutions. Sixteen home-based women workers involved in embroidery and bindi making, participated in this workshop.

Communal Harmony, Street plays were organised (with the support of Kalakar Morcha) in two markets of Delhi, Sarojini Nagar and C.R. Park, both being busy locations. The play Do Duni Ek, based on the Indian ethos of dialogue, non-violence and inter-dependence, emphasised our shared heritage and the spirit of unity in diversity.
(i)
A Travelling Exhibition of photographs, illustrating applied ethics in South Asia and covering the themes of educational values, developmental ethics, gender ethics and environmental ethics was prepared by Ragmala Creations and displayed in various colleges of Delhi University and in local schools.

Three-day National Seminar on Applied Ethics was held at India International Centre from 26 to 28th July, 2002, as part of the Project Applied Ethics Institute of India activities, with the support of Ford Foundation.
